I spend months waiting until I can start celebrating all things Christmas related, and every year there's a mountain of activities that i want to do. Some Christmas tasks are a given: decorating the tree, wrapping Christmas presents and watching the first Christmas advert of the season. But there are so many other amazing things that truly make this season! Consider this your ultimate Christmas Bucket List!
Here in the UK we're never lucky enough to have more than an inch of snow before it turns to slush, BUT when we do get enough the first thing that comes to mind is building a snowman or making a snow angel
Wearing your cheesiest Christmas jumper for the first time
Watching Christmas movies (...or 10)
Watching Christmas movies (...or 10)
Taking a younger relative to go and see Santa- nothing beats the look of sheer joy on their faces this time of year
That first sip of a festive drink; whether that be a certain coffee chain's Toffee Nut Latte, a big ol' cup of eggnog or a cheeky mulled wine
Candy Canes! Candy Canes everywhere! On the tree, in my purse, in my hair!
Festive pj's- snowflakes, tartan and reindeer galore
Making a festive DIY... Stay tuned for my Christmas DIY post!
Sending Christmas Cards- nothing quite beats receiving a hand written Christmas card, so why not send them out to your nearest and dearest!
Another thing to get me in the Christmas spirit is baking! Christmas cookies, Gingerbread houses and mince pies!
Speaking of mince pies, that first mince pie is what marks the beginning of Christmas to me
Watching your towns Christmas parade and sticking around for another 174 hours, in the freezing cold, to watch the Christmas Lights turn on
And whilst you're at it, browsing the Christmas Markets and savouring all the gloriously enticing treats and lovingly handmade unique finds that fill these stands.
Setting aside an evening to yourself to blast the festive tunes and get your Christmas wrapping on
Ice Skating! I'm pretty sure most cities and larger towns I've visited put up an ice rink for this season, and it's one of the best things to do on a chilly afternoon
When I was a little girl, my parents used to take me on evening drives out to see all the amazingly lit houses and gaze in wonder at the creativity of it all. To this day it's still one of ym favourite memories of Christmas
Going to see a carol show; either a school-run performance and crying when your nephew has a solo, or simply amusing carollers that come to your door on the countdown to the big day
Hanging mistletoe under every doorway; back when I lived at home we used this as a chance to stop, hug and say "I love you" simply because this time of year is always when family tensions run high.. At family gatherings its a tradition that if you don't want to do this, you can crack a corny joke instead!
Donate. Whether that be to a military service, a pet shelter or a soup kitchen. A random act of kindness means more to them than it does to you.
Enjoy it! Those who are lucky enough not to work crazy hours this time of year are blessed and should really take advantage of the festivities. And those of us who do work crazy hours need to remember that we can say "NO" to overtime, and remember to savour every moment in these next few weeks.
And there you have it! I hope all of you get to tick most of these off, and remember every day leading up to Christmas I'm posting something festive-themed! Be sure to check out my social media links and follow me on bloglovin' so you don't miss a thing!
