MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE

I swear, this post was not meant to consist solely of Lush products. I took a good long look at my skincare drawer in the bathroom, and these bits were the ones I went for 6 out of 7 days. There are some other beauties in my collection, but that's for another day.

So when I wake up, the first thing I do is wash my face with a fresh and clean damp flannel to
get some life into my skin because, let's be honest who really wakes up fresh and ready to go? After that i'll usually put my contacts in and then begin with a cleanse. Sometimes i'll switch it up and use the Lush 9 to 5 Cleansing Lotion or the Soap & Glory Peaches & Clean Cleansing Milk (which I previously featured in my May Empties post if you want to read all about why I love this product) But on other days I like to use a scrub. I'm a huge fan of the Lush facial cleansers, and Dark Angels is no different. It's definitely one of the more "scrubby" facial scrubs they offer, but sometimes you just need that deep clean. Dark Angels uses powdered charcoal and brown sugar to exfoliate and buff the skin, whilst the organic avocado oil gently soothes and moisturises.  It's lovely and soothing and I always feel like my skin is that much brighter when I've used it.

Next up is a toner water. I've used these facial mists since I was a teenager and I don't feel they need that much of an introduction. I always keep all 3 that Lush offer in my skincare stash, although I don't feel that I reach for one more than the other. I love the smell of Eua Roma Water, the antibacterial qualities of Tea Tree Water and the feel on my skin of Breath of Fresh Air. They've all got differing benefits to the skin and  I've always felt that they are a vital part of my skincare. I've recently delved into the world of re-usable cotton rounds (handmade of course, why pay money when you can DIY from old pj's?) and I have to say, they're a lifesaver! You save so much money, and the planet. So I usually soak my cotton round in my chosen tonor water of the day, and then gently pat it over my skin, concentrating on the areas around my nose which seems to harbour more dirt than anywhere else, am I right?

I always make sure to scrub my lips. I for one can't get lipstick to look good on me whatever I try, until one of my Lush colleagues suggested that I scrub my lips on a regular basis. I've always loved a good lip scrub but never really used them Enough to see the appeal of them. Until 'The Kiss' came out for valentines day. I'm hooked and i'm unbelievably sad that I only have 1 more pot of this lip scrub left. It tastes of sweet sherbert and best of all, it was Vegan too!

I've always felt that finding a decent facial moisturiser is a bit of a nightmare. Enzymion has always been a bit of a hit and miss with my skin. Its so wonderfully light that I wonder if it even does anything. It is by no means enough for a nighttime moisturiser for me, but if you have very oily skin or don't like a heavy moisturiser then this is one for you. I'm not a fan of a heavy moisturiser in the day so this suits me as a base before I apply any sort of makeup, or even if i'm having a makeup free day. Made with fresh avocado oil and fresh papaya means that this moisturiser not only smells incredible but also leaves a lovely mattifying finish to the skin. Just what I need in the summer months!

Lastly I always need to moisturise my lips and although I do have a pretty huge collection of lip balms, sometimes a basic all-purpose balm hits the spot. This little vegan beauty has only 3 ingredients; organic jojoba wax, candelilla wax and rose wax! Simple! I slather this on morning and night and it keeps my lips wonderfully hydrated and soothed.

So that's my morning skincare routine. All wonderfully vegan and cruelty free. I always tend to switch up my skincare routine but while the weather has been a little warmer I've not wanted to overload my face with products so it can breathe a little easier. Are anything of these things also in your routine? Or do you have any recommendations? Let me know, and see you next time!

XO

  1. I love Lush's skincare - Ultrabland is my favourite cleanser but I really like the sound of Dark Angels, definitely one to try! I'm a huge fan of the Tea Tree Water, it's so refreshing and calming on blemished skin :) xx
